I passed through the Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery today while driving out to the Point Loma Lighthouse. I didn't even know there was one in San Diego. I don't know how many gravestones there are but they just go on forever. This is less than 1/2 of them. In places, the tombstones go right to the edge of the bluff overlooking the Pacific. The cemetery began as an Army Post cememetry in the 1860's. In 1934 it was designated as a National Cemetery by the government.
